Meeting on Comprehensive Research on Monitoring Greenhouse Gases and Air Quality Related Substances for Climate Change Mitigation

The SUISHINHI S-22 Project, supported by the Environmental Research and Technology Development Fund and implemented from FY2024 to FY2028, seeks to advance the transition “from science to policy” and “from observation to action.” Through high-precision atmospheric observations and model-based analyses, the project monitors emissions and removals of greenhouse gases and other climate-related substances, providing scientifically based information to support climate change mitigation policies and actions.

The project contributes to the activities of the Global Carbon Project (GCP) in various ways and serves as a central hub for Japan’s research contributions to the GCP.

This meeting brought together more than 40 researchers, both in person and online. Participants shared research progress and results from the various project themes, exchanged updates on recent developments related to GCP activities, and discussed approaches for translating scientific findings into policy-relevant contributions.
