A number of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions scenarios have been published for the purpose of analyzing the effects of global warming and mitigation policies, and stringent GHG emission pathways. It is important to organize the relevant and available information on emissions scenarios and driving forces such as population growth, economic growth and energy consumption both on a national and global scale, analyze the differences among various scenarios and examine the range of results regarding GHG emissions, energy consumption and socio-economic assumptions. For the purpose of providing common information to researchers and policy makers, this report introduces the Emissions Scenarios Database that mainly stores scenarios reviewed in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports such as the Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (SRES), the Third Assessment Report (TAR), the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) as well as the Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) which will be reviewed by the forthcoming Fifth Assessment Report (AR5). This report shows the features of main driving forces and GHG emissions both on a regional and global scale at different stabilization levels, explains how to utilize the database by the manual such as procedures for reproducing figures in the SRES, the TAR and the AR4, and summarizes data contents and scenario sources stored in this database to provide background information to users of the database.
