概要

The 2013 heat wave in Japan was mainly caused by probabilistic atmospheric natural variability, but anthropogenic climate change played a significant role in raising the chance of the heat wave occurring. We emphasize that the increase of heat wave probability in East Asia is not simply a result of an increase in surrounding SST, but it is also potentially affected by atmospheric circulation changes forced remotely by western tropical Pacific warming.
